Happy V-Cup Day

The Voyageurs Cup

The hardware

Tonight’s Homecoming

There won’t be any high stakes tension tonight when the Vancouver Whitecaps visit BMO Field for the final leg of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship. Bragging rights, of course, will be on the line. The Cup itself, however, belongs to Toronto FC for another year. We have the Whitecaps’ tie in Montreal last week to thank for that outcome.

In what promises to be a wet evening, Toronto FC will likely field members of its junior academy team. Vancouver may put their first string out, just to push for the upset and a bit of dignity in the face of the event’s insignificance. Or, possibly, they’ll throw on their bench too and we’ll be treated to a junior development match before the hardware is finally awarded to the Reds. Either way, the only relevant news for the day is that the competition is over and Toronto will be awarded the prize.
