TFC 2010 | Week#2

MLS Cup Hoopla

This is a week without contest for us, and let’s just say it’s a lucky break we get a week off for practice now. Hopefully, Preki will have a chance to work the newest bodies into his machine, and the guys will have a chance to prepare and focus for our next match in New England on April 10th.

The Subtle Art Of Distraction

In the meantime, the MLS has thrown us bone in the shape of the championship trophy. It’s a good thing they’ve decided to hold the game here, and it will bring lots of attention to our city, our stadium and the sport in our community. Thankfully, they chose to announce this good news this week during a lull in our schedule when it might make us all look away from last week’s season opener and breathe a little easier. We may not make the cup this year, but we will get a chance to see the game in our backyard. Should we Cinderella our way into the final we’ll have even more to cheer about when that cold November afternoon arrives.

Week #2 Match Ups

There are some key contests tonight in the west with Real Salt Lake playing Houston and Chivas battling the Galaxy. Saturday’s game of note for me will be the Red Bulls visit to Seattle. Last week they shutout the Fire, one of the better Eastern Conference teams, as they inaugurated league play in their new stadium. Can they keep that form playing away against the best of the West in Seattle’s rowdy home? I’d love to see them show up with that surprise for the Sounders.
